Description

Chevron is an exceptionally well-presented 1976 Freeman 23 and a particularly fine example of this much-loved classic river cruiser. Her condition is a real highlight, with beautifully presented woodwork, smart upholstery and a remarkably clean and well-kept appearance throughout.

She offers four-berth accommodation, with berths in both the forward V-berth and centre cabin. The comfortable saloon provides seating around a dining table, together with extensive cabinetry and useful storage space. The galley is equipped with a two-burner gas hob and grill, sink with cold-water supply and preparation space. Outside, the spacious cockpit provides a full-width aft bench seat together with raised helm seating.

Chevron is powered by a 30 hp Ford Watermota petrol engine with shaft drive and a Watermota J-Type gearbox. The engine has been serviced annually during the current ownership, most recently in April 2026.

She has benefited from an extensive programme of maintenance and improvement, including a new canopy fitted in April 2025, new battery in March 2026 and a cooling system overhaul in April 2026, which included a new water pump, seals, thermostat, relief valve and hoses. A new fuel pump, fuel hose and filter were fitted in May 2023, with a new distributor and coil fitted in October 2023.

Further works include the fuel tank being cleaned in October 2022, a new carburettor fitted in May 2022, a new propshaft and propeller fitted in June 2020, the upper rubbing strake replaced in January 2020 and window rubbers replaced in June 2019.

All invoices and receipts for maintenance and parts are available, together with a comprehensive history of paperwork. Combining traditional Freeman character with practical inland cruising, Chevron represents a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptionally well-preserved example that has clearly been cherished and maintained to a very high standard.
